This was a musical celebration of the nationalities of the teams playing in the Rugby World Cup in Dunedin: Georgia, Argentina, Romania, Ireland, Italy, and of course England. Featured artists were two of Dunedin's internationally-celebrated musicians: bass baritone Jud Arthur and conductor Tecwyn Evans. Southern Sinfonia was joined by the City of Dunedin Choir and the St Kilda Brass, while Radio NZ Concert broadcaster Kate Mead was Master of Ceremonies.

Southern Sinfonia in a Supporting Role
Gilbert and Sullivan: Utopia (Limited)
11, 13, 15 and 16 September 2011, Mayfair Theatre
The Really Authentic Gilbert and Sullivan Performance Trust (RAGSPT) presented the entire G&S repertoire in chronological order over the 11-year period 2002-2012. In September 2011, the twelfth opera, Utopia (Limited), was performed in Dunedin with an exciting cast and was supported by the Southern Sinfonia.
The Sleeping Beauty
12 and 13 November, Regent Theatre
Set to Tchaikovsky's soaring score, The Sleeping Beauty tells the timeless story of young Princess Aurora who falls prey to the evil fairy Carabosse - only a kiss from a handsome prince will break the spell and ensure she can live happily ever after.
In a coup, Royal New Zealand Ballet has engaged American Ballet Theatre soloist Stella Abrera to perform the lead role of Aurora. Southern Sinfonia provided the orchestral support for the Dunedin performances.
