Friends of the Sinfonia

Friends of the Sinfonia.

For only $15, become a member of the Sinfonia's support organisation, Friends of the Sinfonia. Their aim is to support the activities of the orchestra through post-concert suppers, chamber music concerts, meetings with the orchestra's guest artists and social occasions.

Friends members are offered an exclusive two-day advance booking period for tickets to the International and Matinee series concerts. Post-concert suppers will be served immediately after each International concert.

Musical Gems on 7 February

Dr David Murray, Cellist and Archivist, has agreed to revisit the popular Musical Gems talk one more time which will take you behind the scenes at the Hocken Library.

Time: 3:30 pm

Cost: Gold coin collection (members only)

Attend a Rehearsal on 23 March

Each year, Friends are invited to attend a Sinfonia rehearsal with a visiting conductor or soloist. It is always a privilege to meet and hear about the lives and careers of these individuals as they visit Dunedin. The rehearsal will be of Sibelius' Symphony No. 5 and Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2, with pianist Diedre Irons and conductor Hamish McKeich.

Time: 6:30 pm pre-rehearsal talk, 7:00 pm rehearsal
Venue: Regent Theatre
Cost: Free of charge (members only)

Special Fundraising Event in May (date to announced)

A joint midwinter get-together with Friends of the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. Ross Grimmett will present a talk on "music and art" and show participants around a Dunedin Public Art Gallery exhibition.

Musical Tastings on Sunday 12 August

Friends and their guests are welcome to come to tastings of wine, cheese, and music. The music is presented by members of the Sinfonia and University of Otago Music Students. Raffles and prizes will be drawn during the afternoon.

Time: 3:00 pm
Venue: Sinfonia Rooms, Carnegie Centre, Moray Place
Cost: $10 member ($20 non members)
